Summary
The men's and women's squads achieved 16 world ranked performances and broke 25 national level records.
14 AIS swimmers (7 male and 7 female) competed at the Los Angeles Olympic Games for the first time. 6 athletes won medals.
Michele Pearson and Rob Woodhouse became the first Australian trained swimmers to win gold medals at the United States swimming championships.
Michele Pearson and Karen Phillips were inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Academic achievement awards were made to Paul Rowe (Business Administration) and Susie Woodhouse (Science).
AIS swimmers competed in the Canada Cup held in December.
