Engaging Outsiders in Sport: Co-Creating Inclusive Legacies for the 2032 Games

This project aims to address inequities in sport participation for girls, women and non-binary people in Queensland. With planning underway for the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games, this project aims to influence and guide equitable and inclusive sport participation legacies for those who are disengaged or marginalized from sport. Through a co-design approach the project will provide insight and input from people with lived experience of inequality and key stakeholders involved in legacy planning for 2032. This cutting-edge research can be used to inform sport legacy planning for future mega-sport events (including international). It will provide resources and guidance that support government and community engagement to ensure economic investment in mega-sport events is leveraged for social and health benefits. Translation pathways are integrated into the entire research design through ongoing engagement with key stakeholders and a public facing website.
