Being the “significant other:” a qualitative exploration of the role of partners and parents of elite athletes in providing support across their playing career and beyond
This project aims to find out what the experiences of being a partner or a parent of a retired elite athlete is, how they have supported their partner or child during their career and into retirement, what challenges are associated with supporting elite athletes as they transition out of elite sport and what support needed as a significant other of an elite athlete during the transition out of sport.
